Vancouver Special: Ambivalent Pleasures

Mobile is a collaborative duo between myself and Ellis Sam, a close peer living and working in Vancouver, BC. We spent 6 months observing and cross examining our values of image and sound in hope of exploring the vicinity of synesthetic relationships between the two. The paintings were installed across from one another in a hallway at the Vancouver Art Gallery, each embedded with four speakers to produce a binaural effect while passing through. By sonifying the space of mobility the viewer is suspended within a transfusion senses, like pair of headphones made of canvas and paint toying with the lateralization of ones brain function.  (Audio below.)
